Clear the Obstacles to Your Goals

Can you believe it’s already February?! This year is off to a fast start (seems that way, anyway!) and it’s a good time to evaluate your progress on the goals you set for the new year. Have you been moving steadily toward those goals so far? Have you made some positive changes that will help you achieve those goals in the near future?

Or, have you found that you just can’t seem to get started yet? Maybe you’ve made a few small steps in the right direction, but already your progress seems to be stalled?

If you’re having trouble moving forward on your goals, tapping is a phenomenal tool that can dissolve obstacles and help you get there much faster and easier.

Here’s how:

First, jot down one of your goals right now, something that you want to achieve this year.

Below that goal, make a list of reasons why it might be challenging to achieve, or the obstacles that might be standing in your way.

Here’s an example:

Goal: Increase my income to $100,000 yearly.


– I’ll have to work a lot harder.
– I would have to network more.
– I’ll have to move to bigger offices.
– I’ll have to get more clients.
– I feel overwhelmed just thinking about it.

Every one of the items on your “obstacles” list is a great tapping target! Whether it’s an actual physical obstacle, feelings of self-doubt, or a limiting belief, you can tap to clear it.

Follow a super-simple formula like this:

(Using the example list from above.)

Karate Chop:

Even though I’ll have to work a lot harder to earn $100,000 a year, I love and accept myself.

Even though I don’t know how much harder I can work because I’m already working really hard, I forgive myself.

Even though I would have to work SO HARD to earn such a big salary and I’m exhausted just thinking about it, I honor my feelings.

Now tapping through the points:

Eyebrow: I want to increase my income,
Side of Eye: but I would have to work really hard!
Under Eye: Earning that salary seems impossible for me.
Under Nose: I would have to work so, so hard.
Under Mouth: I don’t think I can do it.
Collarbone: I have a lot of doubt about it.
Under Arm: I feel stressed about it.
Top of Head: I don’t think I can do it.

Eyebrow: I would love to earn more money.
Side of Eye: But it seems too hard.
Under Eye: I don’t want to work that hard.
Under Nose: I wish money could come easily to me.
Under Mouth: I don’t want to work so hard.
Collarbone: This belief that I would have to work hard.
Under Arm: Maybe it’s just a belief,
Top of Head: and maybe I can change this belief.

Eyebrow: Maybe hard work is just a perception.
Side of Eye: Maybe I could enjoy the time I spend on my business.
Under Eye: Maybe it doesn’t have to be hard.
Under Nose: I want to release this belief.
Under Mouth: This belief that I have to work extra hard.
Collarbone: Maybe that’s not true at all.
Under Arm: Maybe I could have fun,
Top of Head: and earn more money at the same time.

Eyebrow: It’s possible!
Side of Eye: I know that other people do it.
Under Eye: Maybe I can do it too.
Under Nose: I’m not afraid of hard work,
Under Mouth: but maybe I can see this differently.
Collarbone: Maybe I can enjoy my work,
Under Arm: and still make a great income.
Top of Head: I really like that idea!

Eyebrow: I’m willing to enjoy my work.
Side of Eye: I’m willing to put in the time and effort,
Under Eye: but have fun with it at the same time!
Under Nose: It doesn’t have to be hard work.
Under Mouth: It can be fun work.
Collarbone: It can be rewarding work.
Under Arm: It can be lucrative work.
Top of Head: I love that idea.

Keep tapping until you have cleared out the limiting belief, fear, doubt or worry. Then test it by saying aloud, “I want to earn $100,000 yearly but I would have to work really hard.” Does that still feel true to you? If so, you may need to tap through several more rounds. When that statement no longer feels true to you, you will know that you have cleared it.

Then move to the next item on your list and repeat! Tap through every fear, doubt, worry, concern, limiting belief and obstacle that might stand in your way.

You will quickly realize that most of the obstacles that stand between you and your goals are INTERNAL. Your own thoughts, feelings and beliefs hold you back much more often than any external obstacle.

However, even with physical obstacles, you’ll find that tapping on them completely changes your perspective so that they no longer seem so intimidating or overwhelming. You’ll simply find a way through or around them and continue on your way.
